I am on 11 days no porn/artificial sexual stimulation and 6 days no MO and I started listening to music tonight with the head phones in and it has made me feel amazing. I have just kept listening for hours. I feel really good.

Does stopping porn/masturbation have anything to do with this?

  2. Yes it definitely does, porn psychically changes your brain, shutting your dopamine receptors down because they are being flooded and have to shut down. So when you abstain your receptors start becoming active again, dopamine is responsible for making you feel good, but when you are a porn addict nothing excites you anymore, so when you abstain other things start becoming enjoyable again, such as music.

  3. I have had this experience myself, starting a couple of weeks into my reboot. I was working hard physically, and suddenly noticed that I was feeling the same dopamine surge pleasure feelings as when I looked at porn. I have since felt this when doing other things I feel good about, like reading/writing or listening to music. It's definitely a sign that we are healing from the negative effects of chronic porn consumption. We are learning to actually live again, to be sensual beings, to truly relish being alive. Hold onto that feeling, man; it's what it's all about! :)

Indeed. IT's not only with music actually, as they answered. This is AMAZING. We start to see that life isn't so bad as we imagined. Life starts to become enjoyable. I don't know you guys, but life to me has always been a suffering. And this changes with nofap.

Yeah man it makes sense. Addiction to PMO will suck the life out of you and your excitement for random things in life because you end up abusing your brain's circuitry. So when you're addicted to PMO everything else seems bland in comparison because your mind is so focused on it and it thinks nothing is as fun as PMO. When you quit you allow your mind to focus on other things and also your brain wiring heals so you actually get happy and excited about things aside from PMO.

I have started to notice this too, but now I'm binge listening to my favorite music genre almost all day as if its my life support! This can't be healthy for the dopamine receptors either, can it?

Then you found one way out. Keep listening to music whenever you feel like watching porn. Amazing strategy I'm gonna try it
