I don't have a problem with porn. I'm almost 40 days in and I've had no urge to look at porn. In my fapping days I would only watch a minimal amount, and I've never watched anything other than straight-forward man and woman sex. However, my urge to ejaculate is tremendous. I am single and not interested in meeting girls for the next few months because I am insanely busy and moving soon, but I do want a release. My question for an experienced fapstronaut is do I even need NoFap right now? Or at all? I do admit that I used to fap way more often than I ever liked to, but I never considered it a problem that I need to address (more of a waste of time that I could have spent doing other things). I feel that if I do it once maybe twice a week (no porn) then it'll be harmless, even beneficial. I am incredibly stressed out for the next few months because I'm working full time as a high school teacher and wrapping up my final semester of graduate school on a dual master's track. Please let me know if you think that fapping (no porn) once or twice a week simply for stress relief is harmful or not. Thank you.

  2. For a non-addict, the medical consensus, which this site supports, is that occasional non-excessive masturbation, without porn or p-subs, is fine.

So, it depends on why you started NoFap. Do you have ED, PE or DE? Do you have any sexual problems? The answer will determine what to do next.

Thanks for your reply. I started NoFap to hopefully help with my depersonalization, so I'm still trying to figure out if it's helping. I have experienced DE but I attributed that to simply masturbating too much and not giving myself time to build up a sexual urge. The only times I'd experience DE are when I would masturbate the same day as sex with a girl, so I think it's a short-term issue. I think that if I build a new habit of restricting the frequency (and especially duration) of masturbation, then I won't experience DE.

  4. That sounds fair. I would avoid any masturbation during times with a sexual partner — why would you do that?

For your depersonalization, I hope that you're seeing a doctor for this.

You really don't seem to be affected mate. I would masturbate if you don't have any sexual difficulties.
I personally would probably still do the challenge, just because it is so fucking difficult to accomplish.

But honestly you seem pretty healthy, sexually. Most people on here actually have a lot of problems due to porn, starting from PIED, DE, PE and just overall a wrong perception for intimacy and being able to form a connection.

I also don't get this. Even without having a girl i am fine without masturbation, but with a girl? I think my brain wouldn't even consider it..

Most doctors are clueless about depersonalization, which is one of the main reasons why it's such a frustrating condition. I did see a psychiatrist, which is how I learned the name of the condition, and she recommended some strategies to improve it.

Thanks for your reply. I have been on the fence about it for a week or so now, but I have decided to keep going with it. Maybe I do have a problem with masturbation, and only more time away from it will truly tell. There's no reason to lose progress just because I think it might not be helping anything. I set a goal to go 116 days hard mode and I'm going to continue toward that goal simply because I set it.

  8. It is a poorly-understood phenomenon. No one understands it. But some experts have at least some working knowledge, and can help. The trick is finding an expert who knows what they're talking about.

I hope that your strategies work. Good luck.
