  2. But not everyone is addicted to video games

  3. That is an opinion not neurological data. His comment you replied to I mean.

  4. Yea but i'm being realistic. For example, is everyone addicted to porn? No, but many are. Am i addicted to video games, no, but i play it ever weekend

  5. As long as I don't have to interact, forced to do PvP or do dungeons/raids with people I'm okay with MMO's. Otherwise it's a nightmare for me.

  6. There's also some easy ways to test and see if you're addicted to something.

  7. Ya I got sucked into comparing myself to others raiding in WoW even though I was a beast on the charts (always had to top recount or I got pissy) and sucked hard at EVE.

  8. Games are nice and fun, extremely fun, but if you don't watch it out, it turns in a addiction, I was addicted to online games for many years, and it destroyed me, I could be a totally different person if I hadn't lost so much time in these endless online games, seriously, is like drug.

I'm taking very easy on games nowadays, I don't play any kind of online games anymore and only offline ones are acceptable for me. I particularly like rpg games, because their stories are so good as reading a book.

  9. It really all depends on the person, some are perfectly fine and have no problems where others struggle with moderation and get consumed to the point of addiction.

I have a fairly addictive personality and so it's harder for me to do things in moderation, like I can't play multiplayer games as that consumes me to the point of not eating for long periods and other problems.

  10. I don't watch Twitch, and I think I'll avoid checking it out because I watch enough stuff on YouTube already!

I enjoy knowing about all the games and consoles that came out over the years. When I play games they're always offline. Occasionally I notice some games have a slight addictive quality to them and it's a little unpleasant so I prefer well-made, enjoyable games that aren't so addictive.

  11. Pretty much on Twitch all people do is watch other people playing games with a mic, I don't understand it but I guess other people find it fun.

Mainly I find multiplayer or competitive games too addictive, like CS: GO had me hooked for way too long and I just had to quit. I can't play those types anymore.

  12. I know @Sarah Walker, last year I was playing a mmorpg free 1 month in a hardcore mode, 6-8 hours per day, I had pain in my hands, but in a weekend, I spent 18 hours playing and after that I realized I had to stop, my pain was killing me and my addiction to it, strong.

Video games are fine and I love to play them but after rebooting for so long I learned to make sure that I spend more time away from being infront of a screen than the other way around but it's cold as fuck outside here on the east coast so other than reading and going to the gym it's hard to find things to do but not impossible I think at some point this month I'm gonna try indoor rock climbing with my friends

I think you need to be very careful with games and use your past as an indication of whether you should continue or not...

I used to play games as a way to escape stress...exactly in the same way I fell into using porn. It causes the same constant dopamine-stream that keeps you jacked up and fixated. In a way, at least for me, it was like edging.

I think games that you can play on your own in your room are dangerous because they're just such an accessible way to delay/postpone stress, other important things. If we're talking about playing Fifa with mates on a playstation that's different - at least you're bonding with someone over a shared experience.

  18. I'm not really sure what that has to do with what I was saying. While I know it's the same as people on YouTube and Facebook that do those comments for pointless likes and it would be no different on here if a person was doing the same thing, I was just talking about addiction in general. There are easy ways to tell if you're addicted to something and again, say in that regard, not everybody is addicted in that way and do comments for likes and the people that do that should seek some help. Because dopamine is dopamine and if it's misused and abused your brain is going to suffer regardless of what your doing.

I play with my SO and we have a fun and great time, but I also play to escape stress because there's not much else I can do right now. If I had more money maybe I could buy books or get like I dunno drawing equipment or something. While what I do isn't healthy and nor does everybody do it, some people don't have a choice in the short term.

Thats quite interesting this thread was brought up, i sold my xbox two years ago, when i was 15. Probably the best decision of my life. I disconnected from my friends at that time too because i realised the only thing keeping us together was the discussion of video games. As soon as i couldn't relate or talk to them about videogames it kind of got boring to hang out with them. I guess we had different interests then. I sold it to try and give myself more time for school work, reading books etc. None of that i actually did, buuuuut it did give me an entirely new focus in life, the focus of myself a bit more and on others, i met new awesome amazing friends that i couldn't imagine a life without! who have changed me into the person i am today and im happy for that!:)

To me, i'll always see the xbox or any video game console as something that drags me down, a machine of putting in hours, only to, when the time comes, for everything that you've worked up for, everything in that moment you strived to achieve, as if life depended on it, staying up late at night just to complete a whatever. To sell that, to lose what you have achieved by selling a console. NA THANKS i chose to sell it and develop real talents, talent in art, talent in music, talent in whatever.

That being said, i have nothing against video gaming, it's just, it makes me think of how trapped i was, in my house, spending money on dlc when it could be spent on many other things, just having fun with friends through a digital vice. Looking back now, i regret all that time i spent doing something so pointless when i could be developing my own talents to make me stand out and be a more interesting person. Video games are good for relaxing and enjoyment when your bored in the moment, i get that. I just got too sucked in, i think a lotta people do with video games, and thats why i wont condone it or believe it to be healthy.

It was time i cant take back, memories were had but they dont mean as much to me as my current memories im creating, then again. The choice to play video games is totally up to you ma bro!

  20. For me besides a stress reliever I'm not able to go out almost at all, so growing up they've become a huge part of who I am. It's a shame a lot of people aren't able to balance between life and the fun they give because games are incredible in their own right. :(
