    Hey guys ^_^,

So I am on my NoFap journey for an entire year, my best streak has been 45 days which did blow up in a chain reaction.

I've never got close to 30 days, but on this streak, I did also stop playing video games and various other things that are none-related to triggers...and I didn't play any games that had triggers as well.

After that long time, I felt like "c'mon, let's play a little bit of overwatch, just for this weekend and then stop it again"

I've started to play the first match and instantly like a big warhammer, a massive urge hit me and I stoped to think about my streak and how good I've felt the last days and just relapsed...after that I've been so shocked, like "WHY?!, why did I do it, so senseless" and for the next days, I've been still shocked cause I thought I am done and clean, my strategy did work out.

For a long time I did think about giving up gaming entirely but then jumped back on thoughts like "playing video games is not the reason why I relapse, it's not the problem"
After a month of constant arguing with myself, I've left the entire issue with "Gaming is not THE problem but A problem for me".

So I did sell my PS4 a couple of weeks ago and deleted anything else...I am not missing it that much even tho I did play since I can think...and I did play a lot...

However, since I've stoped playing and when ever I didn't play in general, I've been able to get bigger streaks and stuff.
So I am really curious if playing video games did affect my NoFap career, cause without it, it's so easy.

    What do you guys think?

  2. Video games can be a trigger, some games like witcher3, or gta5, are full of soft pornography, for me is an instant trigger, and I'm back to pmo, I'm on day 8, but Im not giving up video games completely because I like playing nba2k, And it does not have alot of triggers, but I don' play the other games anymore, I do like them but, i know that I'm really weak when it comes to pmo, so I stay away from games that have to much pornography.

I didn't even play games that had pornographic content...not even close to it...
I think I had a certain neuro-assiciation where the gaming habit did trigger pmo on an intentionally way.

I do love playing video games as well, there are actually coming out games I've been waiting for for a long time, for 1 even 10 years, however I can't sit on my old habbits if I wanna have a new future

I've been wondering about this for a while myself. For me, I think part of the issue is that being productive helps me avoid relapse, and when I game a lot, I'm obviously not being productive. So that's one aspect. But I've also wondered if gaming itself, even in moderation, is causing issues for me. Hopefully some people who have tried giving it up will chime in.

So I for myself stopped it as well after beginning with NoFap. The time will show if it was the right decision but at the moment I don´t miss it. I think that gaming can be deeply related to the fact that we want to create a secure environment where everything is fine because in reality it isn`t. So I see gaming as a habit to flee into virtuality and not facing real world problems like social anxiety.

I personally see a core relation to a specific state, I've read about it in a Tony Robbins book once, it pretty shocked me.
The thing is, when we lean back and relax, we open our subconscious mind and our conscious mind kind of fades a way.
The advertising industry makes use of it to hammer it into the TV watcher's subconscious mind.

When ever I am totally unaware or super relaxed, I feel like being vulnerable to urges and such...it happens when I am bored and watch some random video that I don't give a damn as well as laying around in bed.

I think, when ever we put our awareness of the moment down, we become vulnerable to urges...and so while gaming when we wanna shut down ur brain...somehow.
That's my idea why I feel better without playing.

That's the reason why I feel super comfortable when I just stand up and walk around in terms of having these pre-urge feelings.

  9. I think playing videogames is kinda triggering for me as well. I have cut way down, and only play a little in the weekends and so far that suits me fine. I don't feel the big urges or anxiety out of that. I think if I games like I used too I would feel it more. But right now I mostly don't play weekdays, but relax a little with it at the end of day Saturday and Sunday. We'll see how that goes :)
