    Greetings Heirs,

    January Mini Mission

Tomorrow begins the next mini challenge of the month, from Jan 13 to Jan 20. Every day I want you guys to read a success story about abstaining from PMO, post the link (or tag the person) and tell us your thoughts on why this story is important and what that person did to succeed in his/her goals. The story can be from this site or another, it does not matter. The point is that we can deeply learn from other people's failures as well as their achievements.

Day 1. This story hit me, my dad's always been going on about meditation but him being my dad in the past I thought he was being daft, but over the last 5 work days i've started meditating 10 mins a day, progress is being made and reading this success story it has hit home that I need to keep it going and up my efforts maybe doing a course like this soldier did as my thoughts regards other women and obsessive flirting don't seem to be getting any better,
    love, peace and happiness

Hey guys, first day of the challenge. Today I went through the subreddit searching for a good success story and I got one. This is the link.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/NoFap/comments/1yp2sm/90_daysi_finally_found_myself/

At some point in our lives, there comes a moment when we take a life changing decision. Despite setbacks and rejections in life one must keep on going like today's the last day. This guy not only took the right decision but also finished it before he could think of giving up.

I think this story is important because the Alex character in the story made one final decision to change. He messed up and decided that was it, then and there and actually DID IT. He stayed with his decision and made the change.

He decided to refuse to have regrets.

This story is important to me because I've been more like the writer of this post for most of my life. Quite similar actually. I've got a lot of stuff going for me, as all of us do, and I haven't been living out my full potential all these years because of laziness, procrastination, distraction, instant pleasure seeking and depression.

I've been progressing but really not as fast as I should've been. I still could've been doing a lot better. Now recently I also made this one decision to change. I've had enough and I'm going to give it my all. That's why this story was inspiring to me, because I too am deciding right now not to have any more regrets. I know I can't control all aspects of life but I'm going to give it my absolute best shot to be successful at the things I want to be successful at in life.

My first post for this mini-mission
there are so many excellent success stories. I have chosen part of one by @fennofir which injects, not so much a negative tone but a little realism into the issue of the benefits of NoFap
"Anyways, what I'm really trying to say is that NoFap isn't going to magically fix everything in your life. It will enable you to better yourself, but you have to put in that effort. Don't sit around and wait for NoFap to make your life automatically better. Can't talk to girls? Get out there and get some experience. Fuck up a couple of times. You're not gonna get it on your first or second try. You have to be willing to make mistakes, so that you can learn. Don't be afraid to go out there and live your life. After all, aren't these things that you want the reason you started? It'll be hard, but ultimately so worth it in the end, like NoFap.

It is essentially saying - don't just wait around and expect NoFap to cure everything in your life. Rather I think that the newly found willpower and determination you discover inside yourself from your ability to succeed with NoFap should lead you to the realisation that there are other awesome things that YOU can do with your life because you can apply this same willpower and determination to other incredibly weakening habits like procrastination for example.

  9. Heirs of the Sun, Mini-Challenge post 1: could not find the link.

One of the greatest success stories I have seen contained only 4 words: I Fucking Did It.

That was it, I fucking did it. The reddit post was done by someone who just got to his reboot goal of 3 months and that was all he wrote about it. Those 4 words hit me so profoundly. All in one moment I could feel the sense of accomplishment, the sense of power and all the struggling that came with it. Just think, to finally get your 90 day reboot, however you willed it to happen, and just say with utter content and pride: I Fucking Did It.

I vowed then to do it as well. Only a few days ago, with a beer in my hand, I silently said to myself: I Fucking Did It.

Every now and then I go read snippets of this post: http://www.yourbrainrebalanced.com/...4be8e95cc16d7ac1ce089f3219c0093&topic=15558.0

I find something new every time or become inspired again by something I had read before but forgotten about. The biggest thing on there for me is the part that says "Abstinence is NOT recovery."

I read this a little over two years ago, and thought that it was cool... Then I moved on with my life. I didn't internalize it until just last month. I joined Heirs of the Sun. The rest is history!

You have to be taking strides to improve your life in other areas to replace the habit of PMO. It's easy to forget or to make excuses, but you will never fully recover unless you develop positive habits that are in line with the life you want to have.

  11. "Maybe up until now, you have had a rough life. Maybe you were abused physically, mentally, verbally. Maybe you are dirt poor, alone, overweight, unhealthy - I don't know what. There are tons of sad stories out there, and even I have one. This is life, and we all have bad cards dealt to us in some way. The question is, what now? are you going to choose the life you really want, or are you going to be stuck with the life that was seemingly chosen for you?"

I found this journal well wrote and truthful. They explain how you must have a deep burning desire to truly beat this addiction. You cannot attempt to do it if your only going to dip your toes in the water, you need to jump in and just do it. This resonated with me greatly since when I started Nofap, I wasn't putting in the effort to change my life which eventually led me to pmo on my longest streak.

  12. What an awesome challenge. Everyone can thank Gravelord Macabre for this. The next challenge after this is going to rock your world and you are going to need some strength from all this motivation to be able to even think about signing up for it.

I just read a success story about a 51 year old man who had a sex/pmo addiction for 35 years. An addiction that deteriorated his sanity, his well being, and his marriage. It's important to note that the wife realizes that the man he is now is not the same man she married years ago. This is a key component in an addiction because it shows that we are not our true selves when we let our desires take ahold of us, and therefore what people see instead is just a body possessed by our addiction. This is not just a goal to cure pmo, it's a goal to find ourselves.

Thought this story was important because the person was able to conquer each particular artificial stimulant they had an issue with. They also were able to overcome times where those old addictive thoughts kept popping up and have an ability to not give in.

We can all take from this story a few things. They mention love as something that helped them during recovery. Was also said that in times we feel out of control we should listen to ourselves to find where that pain is coming from.

Really good idea for a challenge, very creative I'm going to enjoy this one.

I think this is so interesting how broad NoFap is. Millions of people in China participated in a NoFap day. A day dedicated to educating against the harms of pornography and M. This is one of the main things that attracts me to NoFap: the diversity of views but one focus. This post has talked about the need for premarital abstinence, a view that not all take. I have met others on NoFap that are okay with sex outside of marriage, others who see sex as good in a healthy committed relationship and even others that want to get rid of sex out of their life completely. But through it all, there is a committed against pornography and the harms it brings.

    Let's fight the battle!
    Stay Strong!

Here is Gabe. Gabe was addicted to pornography and I remember seeing his videos on youtube before I came on this site. Didn't know he was a fapstronaut until now, not surprised I guess. Anyways, watch his videos they all have great information on how to handle the urges to PMO as well as tips to cure porn induced erectile dysfunction aka PIED.

    Post #2:
Somebody on the subreddit posted this picture with the title "Please don't laugh - this is how I've now gone two weeks porn free."

It was profound to me, just knowing that people resort to all different types of techniques to conquer this addiction. It sort of opened my mind to the possibilities, and made me realize that it doesn't matter how I get through this. The only thing that matters is that I get through it.

This picture was posted two years ago, and the poster has been inactive since then, so I can't say for sure that they kept this up. I like to think they did. It sure helped me!
