anyone else got an issue with only M and their imagination

    My reset last week (ending 211 days) was because I looked at porn subs with no P or M or O. As you said: hard mode.

    This is where I go on a short rant. I agree with you. Sadly, the glossary on our site does not agree with your (our) definition of hard mode and I think it should be changed if we really want everyone on this site to get the full benefit of a reboot. All it says for hard mode is that you don't have any form of sexual release. In the definition, it doesn't specifically say anything about avoiding edging and p-subs (though I am sure the other definitions in the glossary make that clear). I am pedantic, but I think the definitions should match the most effective reboot method and they don't do so currently. Just my opinion and I know most people get the idea without needing to be so exact. I think the reason it is defined as it currently is avoids the trap of being too strict or of defining p-subs so restrictively that it would be off-putting to many potential reboot candidates (they might have you totally avoid all movies for example which some people wouldn't want to do).

    I did some further reading on the reboot basics, and the version of hard mode that removes p-subs and social media is more aptly termed monk mode. For sure we see that come up on the site, but is not mentioned often enough in my opinion.

    I agree 100%. I see little point in us fooling ourselves about the true nature of our recovery/progress. I think the glossary could do with rewording. Alexander is always willing to hear such ideas. You could link him to your post or even suggest how the description(s) should read and post it in the NoFap forum where he or another member of staff will see it.

    Everyone has their own version i guess.

    For me to succeed in my 37 day streak i didn't look at women in real life and kept my gaze low. Of course i did look at women when it was necessary to communicate with them for a valid reason ie at work but not tto perv on them.

    However others on the other hand do take opportunity to engage and admire women in real life whilst rebooting.

    Recover from what? many of us are here for different reasons

    I had no problem with porn, social issues, masturbation , religion etc etc

    My only problem was PIED that was related to constant masturbation to porn.

    Hello, I see nobody replied to your question so I'll give my understanding of the No PMO and Rebooting.
    1) Everyone sets their own goals and it's different goals for almost everyone
    2) My Goal is not to view porn. Therefore I'm covering the no PMO goal. Porn is the main problem for me, porn wastes incredible amount of time and energy. Porn turns me into an unproductive member of society and robs me of my full potential in almost everything I do.
    3) My understanding is that you can reboot even if you choose to M and O during the rebooting process, but it will take longer to reboot. I'm married and therefore I'm having sex with my wife during this process. The sex is better, I was starting to get ED problems when I was practicing my full blown PMO addiction.
    4) My counter reflects a short time of no PMO, and I have been trying to quit since Dec. 2014. I'm getting better because the relapses happen every 10-17 days. That's a huge improvement compared to how I used to spend 2-6 hours a day, everyday PMO'ing.
    5) I'm taking it one-day-at-a-time. Goal is 30-days, then 60, 90, 180, reboot, live clean from porn while becoming the person I want to be.

    Yes but you must use your mind and imagination to masturbate....

    sounds exactly like my issue... i have pied... i M even if its not hard!

    No i get for me it was porn that caused my PIED, But if i hadn't developed PIED i would have no problem with porn as an entity.

    I was only wondering what you were trying to recover from, but you answered the question it was ED

    My last viewing of porn, as well as viewing to masturbate to it, was back in February, then I set out to go for ninety days without masturbating at all—the recommended 90-day reboot, right? Much to my surprise at the time, I found I had great difficulty. I would last a week, or two weeks, then a few days. I realized that my brain and body had been conditioned through years of behavior. What I hope for and what I hope is actually happening, is a reversal of that conditioning through new behaviors. I think it's happening. I just made it past my initial goal of ninety days, finally, and I feel my imagination is much more settled. Oh heck, of course it is. I was crazy for the first couple of months back in the spring. My experience is this, that thoughts and urges decrease in frequency and intensity over time when we don't act on them. There will be discomfort, count on it, but it does get better. I also agree that so-called P-subs and ogling women and anything else that creates sexual excitement is best to be avoided for effective rebooting and reconditioning. Things like that only slow the process and cause frustration.

    How long can you edge without porn or porn fantasy?

    Because edging is far worse than anything, Internet porn is bad because people tend to edge too it this creating hours of dopamine, This is what creates the problem, the brain just cant cope with it. Dopamine is great when used naturally, short bursts in sex, old style wanking , the orgasm is short and sweet etc etc, but high doses over a long period, every day like we do with edging , many believe this is the culprit.

    Thanks for these insights - I think my big problem is actually edging. I don't particularly want to cum - and now I wonder is that because I am so addicted to the edging - the porn is secondary to that - to help me edge. I will reflect on this and post in my journal. Thanks
